Saluto del Sindaco di Latina al Festival Internazionale del Circo

Latina si appresta ad ospitare la 22esima edizione del Festival Internazionale del Circo e mai come quest’anno la manifestazione racchiude in sé un profondo significato. Ciò che abbiamo vissuto nell’ultimo anno e mezzo, la lotta contro il virus, il lockdown, le vittime del Covid, rappresenta un vero e proprio spartiacque nella storia recente dell’umanità. Per questo ritrovarsi di nuovo qui, a Latina, con il Festival del Circo più conosciuto d’Europa è un segnale importante di ripartenza, una tradizione che si rinnova e che ha dimostrato di essere più forte della pandemia. Come Sindaco, sono orgoglioso che dopo l’edizione “ristretta” ai soli artisti italiani dello scorso anno, si torni a respirare il carattere internazionale della manifestazione, che negli anni è riuscita a promuovere in tutto il mondo Latina e l’intera provincia pontina. Dunque, non posso che augurare a tutti di vivere al meglio questa 22esima edizione con la certezza che ancora una volta la città di Latina saprà godere, seppur con le dovute cautele legate ancora al contenimento dei contagi da Covid-19, di questo prestigioso appuntamento internazionale, lanciando come sempre un forte messaggio di accoglienza e di disponibilità all’incontro multiculturale.

Greeting from the Mayor of Latina

Latina prepares to host the 22nd edition of the International Circus Festival of Italy, and never before has an event signified so much. Over the last year and a half we’ve been through so much, fighting the virus, enduring lockdowns, and witnessing the progress or demise of numerous Covid victims: it has been a real watershed for present-day humanity. Meeting up again at Latina for the most famous Circus Festival in Europe is an important sign of recovery, with a tradition that shows it is stronger than the pandemic. As Mayor, I am very proud that, after an edition last year that was limited to only Italian performers, the event resumes its international character, promoting Latina and its province worldwide. I send my best wishes to everyone for an entertaining 22nd edition, with confidence that the city of Latina will - with all the necessary precautions appropriate to limiting Covid-19 contagion – enjoy this prestigious international event offering, as always, a warm welcome and an interest in multicultural experiences.
